Glide Bike has two bikes available that are targeted at the 2-5 age range and school age kids 5-10.
Mini Glider
The Mini Glider, designed for kids age 2-5, is a durable balance bike with an aluminum alloy frame and EVA foam tires. Its seat adjusts from 12" to 18.5". That's and it weighs under 8 lbs. making it a bike that’s compatible with very young riders. The child-size handbrake is easier to operate than most other models and Glide bikes feature "mountain bike geometry" that puts the rider's weight over the back tire, improving balance.
One of the unique features of the Mini Glider is its adjustable and removable footrest. This footrest with rubber gripping is larger and more easily accessible then other bikes with a footrest. It's positioning mimics the location of pedals on a traditional bike. The design intends to train kids on foot placement for their eventual graduation to a pedal bike.
Some kids may find that the footrest gets in the way of their feet when they are operating the bike. That's no problem. The footrest can be adjusted to sit parallel to the frame and out of the way or completely removed.
The Mini Glider impresses us with the quick release adjustable seat (no tool required) and adjustable angle and height of the handlebars. A limiter keeps the handlebars from turning completely around to prevent jack-knifing. It's the only bike we sell with an included kickstand. The frame is made of a steel and aluminum alloy that will not rust and is light but durable. It's 100 lb weight capacity is double that of the Strider preBike.
 Go Glider
For kids age 5-10, Glide Bike offers the Go Glider. This big kid balance bike is an excellent trainer bike for kids who started to learn to ride late. This model has 16” wheels but still employs a lightweight design (10 lbs.) and seat height range of 17.5" to 23" making it well-suited to teaching school age children to learn how to ride.
Both the Mini Glider and the Go Glider have an integrated footrest for coasting. The bikes are available in blue, red and pink. The bikes are easy to assemble following the detailed instruction manual.
Our Take: The Mini Glider balance bike is recommended for kids who are ready to ride at a very young age because of its low seat height and light frame. It features many add-ons (kickstand, disc brake, handlebar pads and more) that set it apart from other toddler balance bikes in this price range.
We really like the Go Glider as its one of the few bikes on the market with a frame that supports school age kids and lets larger, older kids who haven't learned to ride yet do so on a balance bike. Like the Mini Glider, the Go Glider features a slew of add-ons that make it well worth the investment. This is the best balance bike for bigger kids.
